HOW TO STOP SHOWCASING YOUR COMPETITORS ON LINKEDIN

Unless you’ve switched it off, visitors to your profile are given options of people they might like to click on instead, “based on a variety of factors” (according to LinkedIn).

What’s it good for? Recruiters looking for someone with a similar job title to headhunt.

What’s it bad for? Businesspeople who’ve worked hard to attract visitors to their LinkedIn profile. The options given may be randoms from your network. They may also be your competitors.

I’d recommend switching it off.

1. Click your mini photo on the top of your profile
2. Choose Settings & Privacy
3. Click Account Preferences in the left vertical column
4. Click Site Preferences
5. Find and click ‘People also viewed’ in the main column
6. Click No
